Medite Smartply will install a 55-MW biomass firing system and digitalize its existing MDF plant with the EVORIS platform at its Clonmel facility in Ireland, according to the technology supplier Dieffenbacher.
The Dieffenbacher Energy system includes a grate and dust combustion firing unit delivering 20 MW of process steam, 25 MW of flue gas for the dryer and 6 MW in thermal oil for the continuous press system. The scope also covers engineering, equipment supply, installation and integration during ongoing operations, plus a comprehensive wet-fuel handling system for flexible fuel sourcing.
The new plant will replace two aging legacy energy plants and eliminate natural gas use for energy generation at the 400,000 m3/year MDF line, which was originally supplied by Dieffenbacher in 2002.
Construction is scheduled to begin in February 2027, with commissioning expected about one year later.
