Palm Group will convert the PM 7 paper machine at its King's Lynn, UK, facility to produce corrugated base paper from recycled fiber, according to the technology supplier Voith.
The project involves retrofitting the existing machine to manufacture corrugated medium base paper from recycled paper. The conversion responds to a structural decline in the European newsprint market.
The new production will strengthen Palm's product portfolio in the packaging sector.
Palm and Voith have previously collaborated on major projects, including the BlueLine OCC stock preparation system for PM 5 at the Palm Aalen site.
The Palm Group produces newsprint and corrugated base paper at five paper mills, as well as packaging solutions for a wide range of applications at 33 corrugated plants.
