In Finland, industrial wood harvesting fell 15% year over year to 3.4 million m3 in April 2026 and was 20% below the average for the previous five years. From January to April, industrial wood harvesting totaled 21.7 million m3, down 8% from a year earlier and 6% below the five-year average, Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) reported.
Within April’s total, sawlog harvesting totaled 1.5 million m3, down 5% from the previous year, while pulpwood harvesting totaled 2.0 million m3, down 21%. Private forests supplied 2.5 million m3 of industrial roundwood, down 12%, while forest industry companies’ own forests and state-owned forests supplied 0.9 million m3, down 22%.
Energywood harvesting totaled 0.4 million m3 in April, down 3%, and 78% of the volume consisted of delimbed stems and whole trees.
From January to April, energywood harvesting totaled 2.2 million m3, down 13% from a year earlier, but 13% above the five-year average. Over the same period, industrial roundwood totaled 21.656 million m3, including 8.800 million m3 of logs and 12.856 million m3 of pulpwood.
