Siempelkamp, a supplier of machinery and complete plants for the wood-based panel industry, will take over production, global sales, service and research and development for the SicoScan measurement systems previously manufactured by Electronic Wood Systems in Hameln, Germany. The transfer forms part of a transaction that gives Electronic Wood Systems a new majority owner, according to Siempelkamp.
The company will manufacture the product line in-house and distribute it worldwide. Service for existing Siempelkamp systems has already been integrated into its global service network, with technicians available independently of Electronic Wood Systems.
Electronic Wood Systems will remain the contact for its direct customers for products, service, maintenance and installation. It will continue to offer and distribute its product portfolio independently worldwide.
Customers will retain exclusive control over remote access permissions for the connection to Siempelkamp’s process control system. The same arrangement applies to the online connection of the evaluation unit and programmable logic controller.
The measurement technology analyses material weight per unit area and detects foreign particles directly after the prepress. Its integration with a closed-loop control system allows automatic adjustments to material spreading without human intervention.
Following industrial use in medium-density fibreboard production, Siempelkamp now offers the solution for oriented strand board and particleboard. The company will also continue research and development to improve existing measurement products and develop new ones.
