CME lumber futures closed at $537 per thousand board feet, the lowest close since January 9, down $32, or 5.6%, from the previous week's close. Daily turnover averaged 414 contracts, 47.8% below the 12-week baseline of 794 contracts.
Monday's close at $570 marked the week's high before the contract declined for four straight days. Friday's close at $537 followed the week's largest one-session drop, down $13.
Turnover totaled 2,071 contracts. Friday was the busiest session, with 516 contracts.
At $537 the contract was 5.5% lower than a year earlier, when it closed at $568. It remained 5.9% above its 52-week low of $507, set on November 11.
