German equipment maker Siempelkamp has completed the acceptance of a gypsum fiberboard production line for Chinese building materials maker Taishan Gypsum, with a design capacity of 20 million square meters a year, Siempelkamp said. Siempelkamp describes the 530 million yuan line as the first high-end gypsum fiberboard line in Asia and one of the largest in the world.

The line was accepted on September 4. The contract was signed in January 2025 and construction began in August 2025. It uses Siempelkamp's ContiRoll continuous press for wet pressing, together with drying equipment, and the process is fully automated.

The boards are made from flue gas desulfurization gypsum and reinforced with recycled fiber from waste cardboard and pulp residues from paper mills. At full capacity, the line will process more than 300,000 metric tons of industrial solid waste a year and cut carbon dioxide emissions by about 16,000 metric tons a year, Taishan Gypsum estimates.

"We are proud to be partnering with Taishan Gypsum on such an ambitious project that sets new benchmarks in all areas, size, technological progress, and innovation," said Samiron Mondal, chief executive of the Capital business unit at Siempelkamp, in a statement.

Taishan Gypsum plans to build nine more such lines in China during the country's 15th Five-Year Plan period, bringing total capacity to 200 million square meters.
