UFP Industries plans to establish a UFP Packaging manufacturing facility in Cherokee County, South Carolina, to expand structural packaging capacity and serve industrial customers across the Southeast and other markets. The project represents an investment of about $5 million in real property, machinery and equipment and is expected to create 136 jobs over five years, UFP Industries announced.
The facility will manufacture wood packaging products for industrial customers, including companies with technical shipping, storage and product-protection requirements. It will expand production capacity and place UFP Packaging closer to industrial customers and transportation corridors.
UFP Packaging's structural packaging business designs and manufactures custom packaging made from wood, steel, foam and mixed materials. Its customers include industrial, manufacturing and logistics companies that require packaging for shipping, storage and product protection.
The South Carolina plant will also increase production flexibility across UFP Packaging's manufacturing network. The company plans to use the additional capacity for national customers that require customized packaging and engineering services.
