Madison's Lumber Prices Index for the week ending September 4, 2026, reached US$518 per thousand board feet, marking a 1% decrease of $3 from the previous week's US$521, according to Madison's Lumber Reporter.

The index fell 3% or $18 from one month ago when it stood at US$536, while rising 9% or $41 from the same week last year when it was US$477.

Madison's constructs the index using the same species as futures – Western Spruce-Pine-Fir, Eastern Spruce-Pine-Fir, Douglas fir, and Hem-Fir – with weighted averages based on North American production volume ratios over recent years.
