Turkey’s General Directorate of Forestry and the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change’s General Directorate of Professional Services signed a cooperation protocol to expand the use of wood buildings across the country. General Director of Forestry Bekir Karacabey and General Director of Professional Services Banu Aslan signed the agreement, according to the General Directorate of Forestry.
The two agencies will carry out joint work under the project to promote low-cost, energy-efficient wood buildings in Turkey. The cooperation will cover standards for construction materials used in wood buildings and standards for building construction.
The protocol also aims to expand wood building construction across Turkey and develop the technical capacity of the wood construction sector. The planned work will address the sector’s technical infrastructure and the use of wood in construction.
The cooperation also aims to contribute to sustainable construction and strengthen coordination between the two government agencies.
